Tallinn Fashion Week and Kuldnõel (Golden Needle) Gala will take place on 23-25 October 2014 in Salme Culture Center.
Tallinn Fashion Week is the most influential fashion Event in Estonia, which offers an opportunity for Estonian fashion designers to present their creations to a wide audience. During the same week, the nominees’ shows for Estonia’s most prominent fashion award – Golden Needle – are also taking place.
Tallinn Fashion Week has offered spectacular fashion shows for seven years, this October being the 8th, and last year the best of Estonian fashion was delivered to more than 5000 people. This year is expected to bring both more designers and more audience.
The main program of Tallinn Fashion Week hosts 14 fashion shows, additionally there are after parties with more fashion shows around the city. TFW is going to break a least one record this year – in total these are over 35 designers participating. Here are some highlights.
The Golden Needle gala is taking place on Thursday, 23 October and there are two prizes to compete for. Silver Needle is given for the most outstanding performance during last year, Golden Needle is a prize for notable efforts in fashion design. The Silver Needle nominees are Vassilissa Danavir, Maris Ilison and Triinu Pungits. The Golden Needle nominees are Lilli Jahilo, Kriss Soonik and Kristina Viirpalu.
MOOD 100 celebrates hundred years of fashion design education in Estonia. The show proudly presents the creations of ten designers who have been or still are, in various ways, closely related to the Estonian Art Academy.
AMANJEDA is a collection by Katrin Kuldma that was first seen at the Milan Fashion Week this year and will return to stage for local audience on 17 October at 19:00 in Vaba Lava center, a week before the official program.
In between shows it’s recommend visiting the photo exhibition by Külli Sparre in Salme Culture Center, a sea-themed fashion exhibit in Seaplane harbor, and accessories design contest winners’ exhibition KAAMOS in Estonian Applied Art and Design museum from 9 October to 2 November.
